Tom & Katrina's wedding in York at the Merchant Adventurer's Hall

Katrina & Tom were married at the glorious Merchant Adventurer's Hall, a medieval guildhall in central York - a fascinating place with amazing history! It has lots of wonky architecture and pieces of art hanging, which makes for an interesting job trying to straighten wedding photos.

It was a roasting mid summer Saturday - I changed shirt twice! (I'm sure you wanted to know that). The day was great fun and it was an honour to be there.

Earlier that day, Tom had taken a handful of guests on a social morning run around town, though it turned out to be too warm for some even at that time! Still, everyone got a medal, even me (I did do SOME running across town). Apparently I had suggested this early morning run idea when we first met up - I always encourage my couples to think about doing things their own way. Tom is a very keen runner, and York is a fab place to explore on foot. That run was a lovely way for some of the guests to mix early on in the day.

Katrina & Tom also had their own ideas about the day's running order - group photos were before AND after the ceremony and we went for a wander up Fossgate before guests arrived. It was refreshing to do things differently!

The day was lots of fun, with garden games, a quiz and, of course, a duck hunt. The blazing sun was only briefly interrupted by rain showers a couple of times.

It was such a perfect day for sitting in the sun that the band, Five Time Steady, (performing indoors) initially had no-one to perform to. But the quality of their sound soon drew guests to the dance floor.

And what a band - I can honestly say I think this is the best wedding band I've seen. It's no surprise really because Tom and Katrina have been to hundreds of gigs together, so they knew who would be best for them. What a finish to a fantastic day.
